Corrections Policy.
How PLOT. identifies, corrects and records errors in the laboratory's publications.
Updated — First editorial cycle — 2026
Commitment
Errors happen in any editorial process. What sets a responsible publication apart is how it corrects them. PLOT. corrects quickly, visibly and with documentation.
No correction is made silently. Changes that affect the content of a publication are recorded on the page itself.
Types of change
Correction
Applies to factual errors: names, numbers, dates, attributions, calculations or misinterpretations of documents and data. The correction is recorded at the end of the publication, with the date and a description of what was changed.
Update
Applies when new facts change the state of an ongoing investigation. The original text is preserved and the update is added with a date.
Clarification
Applies when the information is correct but the wording allows an ambiguous reading. The passage is rewritten and the clarification is recorded.
Retraction
Applies when an investigation proves to be substantially mistaken. The publication remains online with a prominent notice at the top of the text explaining what was incorrectly reported and why.
How to request a correction
Requests can be sent to contato@plotlab.org or through the laboratory's contact page. To speed up the review, please include:
- the address of the publication;
- the specific passage flagged as incorrect;
- the information you believe to be correct;
- any available documentary evidence.
Timelines
- Acknowledgement of receipt: within 3 business days.
- Review and response: within 10 business days, depending on the complexity of verification.
- Obvious errors that can be verified immediately are corrected as soon as they are identified.
Public record
Every correction is recorded on the affected publication, with a date and a description. Corrections that change the central conclusions of an investigation are also communicated through the laboratory's institutional channels.
